CHALLENGE
- Creating a user friendly IOP (Intra Ocular Pressure) device that detects and stalls the progression of the incurable eye disease Glaucoma.
- To finely balance and harmonize advanced magnetic rebound technology with the demanding requirements of specialized eye doctors, GPs, opticians and vets.
APPROACH
- User studies were conducted focusing on the relative physical conditions a doctor has to take in relation to a patient.
- Various user tests also mapped the practitioner’s movements relative to the patient’s.
- 2 yrs total development time, 4 Designers.
- Customer interviewed: 8, 150 ideas generated, 100 ideas selected, Final products in pipeline: 1!
IMPACT
- The result is a considerable improvement on Icare’s current market-leading tonometer range and a significant upgrade compared to competitors in the same market segment. Awarded with the Red Dot Award.
